EXZJION: Games 002 – The Void Knight (TVK)

We have been developing a couple of games over the past couple of years.

One of our games is a demonstration of capabilities by our Exzjion development team that is highly visually stimulating as well as action-and-storytelling-oriented: The Void Knight (TVK).

The Void Knight

The Void Knight started as a concept to bring the Exzjion world to life.

Storytelling elements as well as adventuring and combat capabilities are explored.

TVK’s current state

Story

The Void Knight’s story is written and completed. This was one of the easier tasks as there is not much dialogue and it is relatively short. However, thoughts, feelings and emotions need to be conveyed through visual elements.

This is all planned out.

Concept and Character Modeling

We chose to go with a custom model for The Void Knight.

After a lengthy process, character designs were created and fleshed out.

From there, we made the 3D model, rigged him, put cloth physics on the cape and knight skirt, and placed him in his forever home: the game engine.

Movement and traversal

As far as actual gameplay elements, the first iteration of movement and a few traversal mechanics have been completed.

The Void Knight can walk, run, and jump, all while a camera follows him that can be adjusted.

The level design has included obstacles to be in the way that The Void Knight can “burn” to remove. This mechanic has a first iteration in the game.

More traversal elements such as remove other types of obstacles that are not burnable still need to be implemented.

Combat

The Void Knight’s move set has been decided upon.

There are six types of attacks: melee combo single target, charged melee, melee “area-of-effect”, long-ranged Ter, charged long-ranged Ter, and long-ranged “area-of-effect” Ter.

Along with the four types of attacks, there are two modes that TVK can switch between: normal and Void Mode.

While in Void Mode, TVK will have another set of moves, be 50% faster and 50% stronger, but the attack types will be the same.

The caveat of Void Mode is that TVK’s health will go down and cannot be recovered.

The Void Knight can also close the gap between his foes, block, parry, and dodge attacks.

Enemies

There are several different types of enemies and four bosses in The Void Knight.

These have been planned out but not implemented yet.

In development

The Void Knight is currently in development with a target release date in Q4 of 2025.

We’ll see how that goes.
